Founder's Story

I started playing soccer at three years old in Senegal. I never really stopped.

From the very beginning, the game was more than a sport to me. It was my escape. No matter what I was going through, the moment I stepped onto the field, everything else disappeared. I felt relaxed, happy, and free. That feeling never left me.

Growing up, I played everywhere. Natural grass, synthetic turf, concrete, handball courts, basketball courts, and barefoot on the beach. Different surfaces, different conditions, different levels — but always the same love for the game. And through all of it, always the same problem.

The Socks.

Every soccer sock I ever wore was built the same way — synthetic nylon from toe to calf. Stiff, unnatural, and uncomfortable against the foot from the very first minute. By the end of a match, my feet were wrecked. Not from the game. From the sock.

So I did what any frustrated player does. I improvised.

I started cutting off the foot section of my soccer socks and wearing a regular cotton sock underneath. It worked. My foot finally felt the way it was supposed to feel — natural, cushioned, free. And then I looked around the locker room.

My teammates were doing the same thing. Cutting their socks. Doubling up. Building their own version of the same fix. Then I started noticing it on screens — professional players at some of the biggest clubs in the world, adjusting and modifying their socks mid-match. The same workaround. At every level of the game.

That told me everything I needed to know. This wasn't a personal preference. It was a real problem in soccer that nobody had solved.

Five Years in the Making

For about five years, the idea stayed in my mind. I kept playing. Kept cutting my socks. Kept watching other players do the same. The idea was always there — patient, waiting.

Then one hot summer day, playing on synthetic grass, it became impossible to ignore. The heat, the surface, the feeling of synthetic material against my foot — something shifted. This was no longer just an idea. It was a necessity.

That moment pushed me to take the first real step.

Building the Sock I Always Wanted

I started with the patent, because I believed the concept was genuinely different and worth protecting. From there, Waly's began to take shape — not as a business first, but as the sock I always wanted to play in.

A hybrid design — cotton where your foot needs comfort, compression where your game demands it. A cotton-rich foot section. A performance compression upper. Two zones, engineered to work together. One sock.

Waly's wasn't created from theory or a boardroom. It was born from the field — from years of playing, adjusting, cutting socks, and watching teammates and professionals struggle with the exact same problem at every level of the game.

I built the sock I always wished existed.

Turns out, a lot of other players had been wishing for the same thing.
